As a non-profit organization with an educational mission, the WALC Institute focuses on education and outreach at the community level to help all stakeholders — resident advocates, policymakers, municipal staff, grassroots representatives and elected leaders — recognize their opportunities to bring change, to understand how to engage in transportation and land-use decisions and to share their successes to empower others. Toward that end, the Institute develops and offers educational programs, shares resources, conducts outreach, teaches the benefits and tools of walkability, and supports communities in their efforts by connecting them with others whose stories and experiences can provide inspiration.
See the Resources section of this website to access some of the materials and programs available for free, or contact us with ideas about other resources to develop or ways in which the Institute can help your community.
